Obituary for Helen Ruth Helton Cooper

Helen Ruth Helton Cooper, age 80 of Sevierville, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2018. She was a 1955 graduate of Everette High School in Maryville, TN. Helen was a member of First United Methodist Church, Sevierville where she taught Sunday School for many years and was active on many committees. She was also an active member of the Spencer Clack Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), where she was Past Regent and held multiple positions in the organization. She retired from Dollywood and Home Federal Bank. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Harold W. Cooper; her parents Elmer and Johnnie Price Helton; brothers Bobby Helton and Wendall Joe Helton. She is survived by her sister, Joyce Chaney and husband Hulet; daughter, Carol Richardson and husband Bill; son, Wally Cooper and wife Ashley; grandsons, Seth Richardson and wife Caralisa, Barret Richardson, Brian Cooper, Kendall Cooper; great-granddaughters, Ruthie and Lydia Richardson; nephew, Jim Chaney and wife Sowmya; and great niece, Nemali Chaney. Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 214 Cedar Street, Sevierville, TN 37862, The Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607, or Holston Home for Children, 404 Holston Drive, Greeneville, TN 37743. The family will receive friends 1-2:15 PM Sunday with funeral service following at 2:30 PM at First United Methodist Church, Sevierville with Rev. Jeff Lambert and Father Seth Richardson officiating.
