Obituary for Meghann Norah McGinnis Newman

Meghann Norah McGinnis Newman, age 37 of Sevierville, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018.

Meghann was a 1999 graduate of Sevier County High School where she was a cheerleader. She was a former member of First Baptist Church, Sevierville where she was active growing up and she recently became a member of Pathways Church. Meghann was the former Activities Director for Sevier County Health Care Center. She had a giving spirit but was never boastful, was an avid reader, nature lover and enjoyed “all things fitness”, but more than anything Meghann loved being a Mom.

Meghann is preceded in death by her grandparents Jack and Betty Jordan, aunt Cherie Atchley, uncle Jackie Jordan and father-in-law R.H. Newman.

She is survived by her husband Richard Newman; children Caleb Hughes, Conner Nottage, Camryn Newman and Carly Newman;parents Chuck and Melanie McGinnis; grandparents Max and Marcia Watson; brother Jake McGinnis (Amber Moses); sisters Ashley McGinnis (Justin Newman), Caitlin McGinnis (Trent Willett); brothers-in-law Ryan Newman (Cassie), Ricky Newman; sister-in-law Rhonda Thornton (Keith); nieces Lillian McGinnis, Eleanor McGinnis, Keeley Hays, Kaeley Thornton, Korrey Thornton, Maddy Newman, Emmy Newman, Robin Newman, Rachel Anderson; nephew Cooper Newman; great-niece Vivien Anderson; mother-in-law Wanda Newman; aunts and uncles Elaine Jordan, Lea Pike (Stephen), Jim Jordan (Mary), Jim Watson; and many extended loving family members and special friends.

Memorials may be made to the Meghann McGinnis Newman fund at any branch of Tennessee State Bank.

The family will receive friends 3 PM – 6:30 PM Friday, September 14 at First Baptist Church, Sevierville. Funeral service will follow at 7 PM at the church with Rev. Jerry Hyder officiating. A eulogy will be provided by Keith Thornton. Graveside service and interment will be held 2 PM Sunday, September 16 in Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens.
