Obituary for Bradley Wayne Burns

Bradley Wayne Burns, 55, of Richmond, IN passed away of sudden heart failure, on September 4th, 2018. Brad was born in Novato, California on September 5th, 1962. His family moved to Richmond shortly after his birth, and he had resided there ever since. Brad was very bright and excelled at anything he pursued. He was an accomplished student and loved athletics. His favorite sport was baseball. He spent summers playing baseball on youth baseball leagues. He was a catcher for 4 years for Legion Baseball.

Brad graduated from Richmond High School in 1980. He was excited to begin his life by pursuing an engineering degree at Purdue University. Sadly, Brad was diagnosed with schizophrenia at the age of nineteen. Because of his diagnosis, he faced many challenges throughout his life. Despite those challenges, he had a love of technology. He would spend many hours rebuilding computers he purchased at yard sales or in flea markets. He also worked at English Manor Apartments as a custodian.

Brad was a caring and fun loving, an observant people person with a unique sense of humor. He will be greatly missed.

The family would like to thank all the many people who knew Brad and called him friend. Most especially the people who worked for Dunn Mental Health and Centerstone. Brad would not have enjoyed the life he had, without the wonderful care and support he received through these remarkable organizations.

Brad is survived by his parents, Donald and Barbara Burns (Gatlinburg, TN); sister, Brenda Thomas, (Gatlinburg, TN); 3 brothers, Bruce (Vicki) Burns, (Indianapolis, IN), David (Shelley) Burns, (Bloomington, IN), Christopher (Jill) Burns, (Indianapolis, IN). He is also survived by 12 nieces and nephews, as well as 4 great nieces and nephews.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 6th, 2018 from 2pm-5pm at Depot District Market, New Boswell Tap Room, on the corner of 10th and E Street, Richmond, IN.

Brad’s family requests any donations to please be made to Centerstone, Richmond, IN. Online condolences may be made at
